“Why, Lord, could we not cast out the demon?” Jesus’ answer was revealing, about who He is and who we are. He told his disciples that they could not cast out the demon because of their lack of faith (Matthew’s Gospel) and prayer (Mark’s Gospel). But he also assured them that with God, anything was possible. What does this mean for us? What of our faith and prayers, or lack thereof? What miracle would God have us work by faith in Him, Jesus Christ, the ascended Lord, whose name is above every name? This sermon was preached at St Jude’s Anglican Church on Sunday afternoon, September 12th, by Clay Thompson.
