Are you haunted by your conscience? Do the weight of your failures, moral and otherwise, plague your mind, rob you of your peace? When the Apostle Paul was confronted with the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ, he came to realize the “righteousness that God is” (to borrow a line from Dr Michael Horton). I think it weighed on him to the point of utter despair. I think he realized that the law was not a means through which any human could stand before God as if God owed them something. What could Paul do but cower in fear? Yet God revealed himself to Paul in the person of Jesus Christ, the love of God in the Gospel was also made known, “the righteousness that God gives” (again, credit to Dr Horton’s Systematic Theology). The relation of righteousness, law and Gospel had all come together for Paul; “For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God” (Gal 2:19). Listen in as we explore this further!
