The Epiphany recalls the revelation of Jesus Christ, Savior of the world, as King of Kings and Lord of lords. It commemorates the mysterious visit of the magi from ‘the East’. The season after the Epiphany follows a brief summary of the life and teaching of Jesus as he accomplishes the work of redemption for the sake of the world.
This sermon contemplates the baptism that is unique to Jesus. John baptized with water. One who was coming after him, yet was before him, would baptize with fire and the Holy Spirit. Oh that we would seek the fullness of the Spirit with which we have been baptized! This sermon was preached on January 19th by Clay Thompson at St Jude’s Anglican Church.
