Christmas can be the greatest of ironies. For many the ‘most wonderful time of the year’ is the most depressing or dysfunctional. How can there be Christmas cheer in a world of suffering, hardship and tragedy? Is there only cheer for the healthy, wealthy and happy? Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, the hope of the world. In the midst of sorrow, suffering and even death we have joy because of our hope in Jesus Christ. This sermon on hope for the world in Jesus Christ was preached by Clay Thompson at St Jude’s Anglican Church in Huntersville, NC on December 24th, 2019.
