If you will have Jesus as your Savior, you must have Him as your Lord also. As Paul wrote earlier in his epistle, “Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience which leads to righteousness? (Rom 6:16). Faith in Jesus without the fruit of obedience is an empty confession. It is no wonder then that Paul bookends this epistle with the phrase, “obedience of faith”.
